Someone posted a day or two ago about the Concord turning yet another year older. I figured I would look up a few takeoff videos for excitement. Then I came across this one. The last three Concord landings ever. Great video.

I remember this exact day, I was 9 years old and I remember listening to the radio when they announced that the last flight from the US had just take off. Even at such a young age I knew this was quite an important date. Honestly, a very sad day for any mechanical enthusiast.

Why was the Concorde cancelled? Flying costs too high?

Growing up I remember going on the Concorde a few times. Seeing all of this Concorde talk is stirring all kinds of nostalgia. Wonder how long we're going to have to wait to see something as impressive as these big birds flying around again...

Damn.

I saw one take off from Dulles in 1979...it was one of the coolest things I've ever witnessed.

Only commercial plane to require an engineer, outdated tech, the 2000 crash, reduced flights after 9/11, and probably a few other minor issues.

Concorde may be the most beautiful airplane to ever fly. It looks so graceful even with the nose drooped and spindly landing gear. Even when parked you can just feel the speed when you look at it.

Oh my goodness. Thank you so much for posting this.

I was working in a Miami food warehouse (very close to the airport) as a fork-lift driver on loan from division in Louisiana where I lived. This was back in the late '70s. A very kind gentleman who also drove a lift tugged my shirt and said in somewhat broken English that I should "come see the airplane land". I couldn't figure out why that was going to be a big deal until he said "Con-cord". He took me out to one of the loading docks and we watched it come in like a big beautiful swan gliding onto a lake. I just stood there in wonder of the moment. When I turned to look at the gentleman, he had the biggest grin on his face. It was one of the best times of my life.

I found out later that he drove the fork lift there only so he could hang out with some of his buddies that came over from Cuba with him. Turns out he owned an avionics business that his son was managing for him.

Very cool. It's amazing how we can all look at something and have such sentimental value for it. Especially with the Concord, most of us haven't even flown in one, but we hold it close to our hearts.

This is incredible. I didn't know they made such a circumstance out of this, and I'm glad they did. My aunt got to ride on one of these a few times.
